Fun Baby Facts That You've Never Heard

Almost everybody understands that babies are sweet and cuddly. They wear adorable and funny looking clothing. There is no other stage of life when a person can wear loudly patterned clothing without having to deal with snide comments. Most people think that there isn't much to being a baby. They think that babies come out of the womb as fully formed humans but without the ability to express themselves properly. The truth is that babies are complex little creatures with their own sets of needs and abilities. Here are some facts about babies that might be new to you.

Babies are not skilled at telling the difference between most of the colors they see. Not only does it take a while for the synapses in a baby's brain to fully connect, their eyes take a few months to mature as well. Babies see primary colors better than any other, which is why you should choose those colors for his nursery and toys. Bold and bright colors like reds and greens and blues or even white and black are the easiest colors for babies to see. Pastels are better for adult eyes.

Believe it or not, this is why a baby will sometimes favor certain toys. What this means is that all of the black and white stuff that you think of as ugly is actually better for your baby's eyesight and brain development than the more traditional and popular pastel based decorations and toys.
Odd as it might sound, some babies come out with some teeth already in place! Other kids don't start getting their teeth in until they are between a year and eighteen months old.

No parent looks forward to having their baby start teething. There is no right age for teething to start so don't start to freak out if it happens "too early" or "takes too long" to start. There is no guarantee when it comes to childhood development even in a family with lots of kids-your baby will grow at the pace that nature has intended for him and him alone.

Did you know that when babies grow tails? That's right! Your baby's tail starts to form at the same time that the other organs like the brain and the heart and the lungs begin to develop.

The tail will begin to disappear as the rest of the baby's body takes shape as it grows inside the mother's womb. It is not unlike the way frogs develop from tadpoles. Some people have extra long tails that do not get completely absorbed and are born with small tails that are still intact. Surgical removal and waiting for it to be grown into are the two options that are available to parents whose babies are born with intact tails. You won't have to worry about the affect to your baby if you have the tail removed-it does not affect your baby's health and the surgery is pretty simple. Scientists learn new things about infant and child development every day. What we know to be true right now could be debunked tomorrow! Are you really surprised by how confusion most people find infancy since you now know how rapidly new discoveries are being made? With a little effort anyone can keep up with all of the new discoveries being made. There is more to being a baby than being a human of low function. Babies are creatures with a decidedly intact set of needs. Learning how to communicate with them is very important. Learning everything you can about how babies develop is also important. The more you know, the stronger a parent you will be!
