Normally, new mothers encounter baby constipation problems. It is
disturbing for mothers to watch their babies straining hard to pass
stool; moreover, the babies cry most of the time due to the pain and
discomfort. Usually, there is too much effort exerted when baby
constipation happens because the stool is hard to eliminate. If you want
your infant to be spared from constipation woes, try to understand
factors that cause baby constipation. The primary source of nutrition
for infants is milk; either by bottle or breast-feeding. Even at this
point, baby constipation issues arise because some studies suggest that
bottle-fed babies have higher incidence of baby constipation. This can
also be caused by the baby who developed lactose intolerance over time.
In some situations, the baby is already lactose-intolerant from the very
beginning. Thus, breast–feeding must be practiced if possible to
prevent baby constipation issues.
As the baby grows, the diet also changes especially when solid food
is already introduced. As the digestive system shifts to absorbing solid
food, it is expected that the baby would be more susceptible to
constipation. In addition, causes of baby constipation maybe traced to:
too much dairy products, low fiber food, bananas, applesauce, pasta,
cereals and even potatoes.
Try not to give the baby any form of starchy food to prevent colic
and stomach ache.It is a great idea if you can dilute prune or apple
juice with water. Give this to the baby twice a day. One of the natural
remedies for baby constipation is prunes; these fibrous fruits really
enhance the mechanics of the digestive system.
Baby constipation can be relieved by doing some tummy massage. This
is as simple as rubbing the baby's tummy in a circular motion. The best
time for massage can be after the baby's warm bath. Giving the baby a
warm bath can relax the body for easier elimination of waste according
to some doctors. Babies can be stimulated to do some exercise like
walking which can relieve constipation.
Mothers should always keep watch of the baby's diet in order to avoid
incidents of baby constipation. Additionally, searching online about
constipation remedies and relief can better equip new mothers to handle
the situation. Finally, when constipation symptoms becomes frequent,
have your baby checked by a doctor.
