Written By Unknown on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 | 1:37 AM

Every new mother is in search for the best way to take care of their babies and grow them in a healthy and safe way. They take every possible measure to ensure the safety and comfort of their baby. Health is very important for every human being and health care is very important for babies as they are very delicate and very easily susceptible to infections. Here are some tips that will help them in taking care of their babies.

A good sound sleep is very important in determining the health of a baby. There are certain things to be considered that enables your little one to sleep well. If the baby is healthy, then it sleeps most of the time during the day, and it sleeps the entire night - which in turn leads to the growth of the baby.

If your baby is finding it difficult to sleep, massage your baby with natural oils that have a good mild smell. Massage the body of your baby in a regular rhythmical way. This gives them a good feel and makes them comfortable to sleep. Almond oil is one such oil which is very good for the skin of the baby and it also makes them feel relaxed and comfortable.

The other common problem in babies is nappy rash. A nappy rash makes the baby feel very uncomfortable and babies with nappy rash cry most of the time because of the irritation caused due to the rashes. This type of rash can be prevented by washing the baby's bottom with warm water and mild soap when you replace the diaper. When the diaper is removed, give some time gap before you place the next diaper. The diaper area should be kept free for sometime. The continuous use of diaper can make the baby feel very uncomfortable. There are certain organic creams available to prevent rashes. Use of cloth diapers or cotton cloth is also a good preventive measure for nappy rash.

The baby should be fed regularly. The proper nutritive diet should be discussed with your doctor. A good balance of liquid and semi fluid food should be given. The way a baby should be held while feeding is also very important as improper positioning can cause hiccups or cough which makes the baby uncomfortable.

These are some of the important tips and these are very basic things to be kept in mind while taking care of a baby.

Bonding with Baby

Written By Unknown on Monday, August 17, 2015 | 12:34 AM

Most parents bond instantly with their babies, an intense feeling that makes you want to hold and love and protect them. For some parents, this can take a little longer, especially if there has been a difficult pregnancy or labour.

Research indicates that babies who develop fulfilling relationships with their parents tend to grow into secure, well-adjusted adults and even perform better at school.

Bonding is a natural process but there are many ways to help out, especially if you provide focused, responsive care in a nurturing environment.

Breastfeeding - a breastfed baby will receive regular close contact with its mother, helping an early bond to develop. Unfortunately, this is not always easy, so speak to your health visitor if you need any help or assistance.

Touch - a baby's first communication is via touch, so hold your baby close, cradle her in your arms or use a sling if you need to get on with chores.

Massage - a more structured method of touching your baby and a way of promoting physical and mental growth as well as the parent/baby bond.

Singing - no matter how tone deaf you may think you are, your baby will love to hear your voice. The rhythmic nature of nursery rhymes is very soothing and is believed to help with language development.

Talk - although she may not understand what you are saying, your baby will love to hear you chatting away about what you are doing, whether it is changing her nappy, peeling the potatoes or folding the washing. She will gain confidence from the fact that you are always near and always focused upon her, even if the household chores need to be done.

Pull a face - even very young babies are fascinated by facial expressions.

Regular activities - such as nappy changing time, are a wonderful time to show your baby just how much you love them. Talk to her, kiss her tummy, tell how what lovely dimples she has, how much you love her smile. This will take your mind off what a messy job it is and show that you love her, no matter what.

Slow down - life is getting faster and faster but slow and steady is best for baby. Stop and spend time with your baby, relax and enjoy yourself, your baby will love you no matter what.
