The Importance of Baby Bottle Hygiene for Your Baby's Health

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 | 12:34 AM

It is extremely important to always sterilize your baby's bottle and the teat every time you use the bottle. Baby's need their bottles to be absolutely sterile, as they are not as robust as older children. No parent wants to see their child suffer with colic or any other stomach upset, especially diarrhea, and one way of avoiding these complaints is to sterilize baby bottles and the pacifier you might use. Don't lick either the teat of the bottle or the pacifier and then put it in your baby's mouth. You might think it doesn't matter, but your germs are as dangerous to your baby as a stranger's.

Whatever you do, if the baby has thrown the bottle or pacifier on the ground, don't then wipe them and give them back to your baby until they have been properly sterilized. Your baby's health is more important than the embarrassment you might feel because it is crying. It is better to be safe than sorry in this instance. You can easily sterilize you baby's item with boiling water, or you can buy a sterilization unit for bottles etc.

If your baby cries a lot and seems to have stomach pains, this may well be because of lack of sterilization. You may think that babies are resilient, but babies, especially newborns, need extra care and attention if they are to be happy and healthy. The importance of a hygienic environment for a baby cannot be stressed enough. It's quite simple to boil water and leave the baby's bottle submersed in it for a few minutes, and it will save the baby a lot of discomfort if you just spend a few minutes doing this to ensure your baby stays healthy.

Some people may tell you that you are wasting your time doing these things, but they are wrong. Ignore them or explain why you are doing it. You might be helping their baby too. Babies need to build up immunity to germs that do not necessarily affect older children and adults. They are new to this world which is full of germs and viruses and need to be protected from them as much as possible in the early stages of their development.

Your baby relies on you for its well-being, so don't let your baby down.

Make Diapers your baby's best friends

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 | 12:45 AM

Huggies, Pampers or Johnson n Johnson - which brand of diapers should I buy for my baby? This is a common query for most mothers who keep trying to relieve their kids from wetness that is uncomfortable and irritating both for the mother as well as the child. Years back there were no diapers, but today diapers are a blessing in disguise, and have made life much easier for mummies and fun for their children.

Why Diapers are called "Best Friends"?

Diapers make the child smile, they make him carefree and he moves about without complaining about wetness. Diapers keep the child happy and their mother's tension-free.

Interesting reasons explaining the diaper-baby-mom bonding:

Diapers are easy to use, dispose and they don't stink.

They save time as they don't require cleaning and washing.

Diapers are helpful, whether your child be indoors or outdoors. They last for hours and keep the baby dry, and can be easily changed without much fuss.

Diapers are increasingly in demand and are worn by babies even at home. Also, diapers when compared to the traditionally used cotton cloth, which needed to be changed very often, are much easier and convenient.

They put the baby to a sound sleep.

When do friends turn foes?

rash
Sometimes diapers can cause diaper rash which can irritate the baby. Constant use of diapers can cause skin irritation leading to rashes, redness and swelling around the diaper area.

Diapers can be very uncomfortable for the baby if they fit too tightly. Mothers must keep the diaper loose enough for the bay to be able to walk and move about easily.

Chemicals like sodium polyacrylate used in the making of diapers, are used in the powdered form to make the diaper super absorbent. These chemicals can have allergic reactions on the baby's skin.

Constant use of diapers  can also lead to darkening of skin around the diaper area. more detail..

The Importance of Baby Teeth in Overall Oral Development

Baby teeth are the primary teeth that appear within your child’s mouth from around the age of six months old.

Although only a temporary factor in the long term composition of your baby’s mouth, they are never the less, an important stage in the growth of the child and as such, proper oral hygiene should be maintained from the moment they appear. Not only will this serve to keep the child’s mouth healthy from the off set, and therefore minimise any risk of problems to the gums later on, it also allows the child to learn from the youngest age, the importance and regularity with which oral hygiene should be approached.

It is important for the parent to be aware of the importance of their child’s primary teeth and to appreciate the consequences of not implementing rigorous hygiene from the very beginning.

Baby teeth are not immune to tooth decay and in spite of their temporary nature, they are of fundamental importance in the health and development of the surrounding gum and permanent teeth.
At age six most children have ample dexterity to start developing responsibility for his or her own oral hygiene, nonetheless, parents should check behind their child’s effort.

At age six, generally baby teeth start to be lost and replaced by erupting adult teeth.  The exfoliation of baby teeth progresses throughout the life of a child until about age 13 when usually all of the baby teeth have been lost and replaced by adult teeth.

Baby teeth serve many important functions for a developing child:  chewing function and efficiency, appearance and self esteem, speech, enunciation and language development, and they hold a space in the mouth for the subsequent eruption of eventual adult teeth.

Primary teeth essentially allow the adult teeth to find their way through the gum in the correct fashion, and as such, act as a guide for the final development of the mouth. For this reason, the importance of the care and upkeep of baby teeth should not be overlooked.

Here at our dental practice in Sacramento, we pride ourselves on looking after you and your whole family with the utmost care and attention to detail. It is because we want to see you go through life, free from the trauma of dental problems, from childhood through to your later years that we will always provide you with the necessary help and advice needed for your optimum dental health.

All About Baby Care, Few Things All Mothers Should Know

Written By Unknown on Saturday, September 26, 2015 | 12:21 AM

Babies are the source of happiness to all parents. But it is a hard challenge to take care of a new born baby. Starting from feeding, bathing, cleaning and protecting from infection, everything is a tedious to perform. So go ahead and learn some important things on baby care here.

The first task that a mother has to learn is to feed her baby. Though it may seem simple to say, its really hard to find when the baby would feel hungry. Brest feeding is advised by most of the doctors for the babies till six months or even more. A chart with all the food items that could be given to the child as it grows a little each month, can be got from the daughter. This can be followed regularly.

Take immense care while handling the new born baby. With the most delicate body, the baby must always be lifted with a hand under the head. This may take sometime for you to learn, if it is your first pregnancy. The same care should be ensured while bathing your dear one. Avoid using any harsh chemical mixed soaps or shampoo. There are many products available in the market exclusively for the newborns, make use of those things.

Whenever you lay your baby anywhere, clean the place well. Check twice that there are no insects in the sheets that you cover your little one. Do not allow anyone with any kind of infection near the child, as children are more prone to diseases.

Change the diapers regularly without any delay, as this may also lead to infection.

Various kinds of cribs are available these days. Choose a crib with a closed net, to protect your baby from mosquitoes. Always make sure that you do not use any strong room fresheners or coils inside the room of the baby.

It may be difficult to understand the problem if the baby keeps on crying. It may generally be due to three reasons. One is for want of hunger or sleep. Next, it may be due to digestive problems. It is not necessary to take to doctor for that. You can give the prescribed syrup for that. Thirdly, the cry may be because of the pain caused by insects or some other substance. This cry would cease after sometime. But if the child keeps on crying, then it is mandatory that you take the baby to the doctor.

When the baby learns to crawl, keep round the clock watch. Never leave the baby alone on cots that is at a height from the floor.

Activities For Baby Boys and Girls

Written By Unknown on Friday, September 25, 2015 | 2:57 AM

Playing is an extremely important part of any newborn baby development and choosing the correct baby activities to start at a given age will not only make the bond with your child stronger, but will dramatically improve the time when they reach each development stage of their first few years. It is important to remember that each child will develop differently and will be able to do certain things at different times from other children. Even though we all want out children to learn quickly always remember not to push them into doing something new, but rather encourage them.

Babies learn new skills at an incredibly fast rate and neglecting play time can be detrimental to their motor, hearing and speech skills. They need to be stimulated on a daily basis in order for them to develop well. Activities for babies must be entertaining and educational as little ones can become distracted and bored very easily. Many people think that with a newborn baby it is not so important to play with them and that in the first few months of their lives all you need to worry about is baby feeding, nappy changing and bathing. However, during the first few months of your child's life they are learning many things and your newborn baby development starts from day one.

Creative Activities for Babies

A great activity that you can play with your one week old is finger puppets. This game will help with their visual recognition and interactivity skills. Newborn babies' sight is very limited and bringing an object to around 15cm from their face will bring their eyes to life as they try focusing and following the objects.

Finger puppets are easy enough to make out of art paper and some coloured pens and do not have to be expensive store bought baby toys. Make some animal faces or anything else you like, the whole idea of this game is to introduce them to shapes and movements. Bring your hand slowly towards your babies face and watch them as they focus on your fingers. When you can see they are focused, slowly bend each finger towards them and introduce each character.

Moving your fingers from side to side will get their eyes moving as they try to follow the shapes. No matter what game you are playing with your new baby it is important to speak to them and describe what you are doing and what each character, colour or texture is. Babies are absolute sponges when it comes to new information and the more words you add to each game, the better their vocabulary will be once they start talking.

During the first couple of months of their life some of the free activities for babies are able to teach them about their new surroundings just as well as expensive toys. A baby blanket can be great fun and educational at the same time. Most new parents have a baby nursery that is full of baby clothing, baby toys and other baby gifts that they received when their little bundle of joy was born.

Baby clothing is soft and your little one is always reaching and trying to grab things for a reason, they want to touch, feel and hold things to learn, so use your baby gift of clothes or rattles and let them feel the textures all the while explain what they are and what colours they are composed of.

Outdoor Activities for Baby

There are many things that one can do to entertain your newborn baby inside the house, but outdoors has its own unique baby activities that are sure to delight. Music activities for babies teach them not only melody, harmony and ultimately a love for music, but if you lay your baby on their baby blanket and move the radio around they will move their heads trying to follow the sound.

Trees, flowers, grass and everything nature has to offer are excellent learning tools to use for teaching them all about colours, shapes and sounds. The great thing about nature is that it offers so many free activities for babies that are not only educational but a very good habit to get your little one into. As their bodies develop, spending an hour a day running around the garden or park is important for their physical development.

Baby Swimming

One of the most amazing outdoor activities for baby boys and baby girls, that will teach them trust is swimming. From as young as six months, some even earlier, babies can swim under water between parents for a short distance. This needs to be taught over a long period and under strict professional supervision, but the whole process is a great way for you to bond with your child and learning to swim will be extremely beneficial for them when they are old enough to swim properly as swimming is one of the most complete exercises for children as well as adults.

Making sure that your baby is learning through play is part of bringing them up fit and healthy.

Learning about baby health issues means learning what makes your newborn baby healthy mentally, physically and spiritually and baby activities definitely help develop all three areas.

If you would like to find out more about activities for babies please feel free to visit our site Newborn Baby. With information and advise for new parents on newborn as well as a range of other topics you are bound to find the answer you need.

Important Steps To Having A Healthy Baby

Written By Unknown on Thursday, September 24, 2015 | 12:39 AM

Having a healthy baby is so important to the mom to be. During my pregnancy, I was among the majority of women who worried about all the things that could go wrong. Every little thing was a cause of concern. "Why am I so tired?" "Why am I nauseous?" "Am I eating enough, and am I eating the right foods?" "Why am I not gaining any weight?" The list went on and on. I soon found out that I was not alone in experiencing all these questions and fears. The majority of women, especially those of us who are pregnant for the first time, experience some level of anxiety about the health of their baby. What's important to remember, though is that a woman of child bearing age who is in good health is, statistically, low risk.

Once I accepted this fact, I decided to stop worrying about factors that were out of my control, and concentrate on the factors I had some control over. Namely diet and exercise. I joined a wonderful program that I found on-line. It gave me a nutritional guideline, a healthy exercise program for pregnant women, and a forum where I could share my experiences with other women going through pregnancy at the same time I was. All of these factors really helped lower, if not eliminate my anxieties. Instead of worrying, I started to feel very relaxed and confident, because I knew I was taking all the steps I could to ensure healthy babies. Besides that, I felt better physically. The steps that I was taking to provide for my babies' health were benefiting me as well. I couldn't believe the level of comfort and energy I was experiencing.

In fact, at the beginning of my third trimester, my husband and I went on a seven night Caribbean cruise. If anyone had told me when I first found out I was pregnant that I would be on a cruise in my third trimester I would have laughed in their face. Yet, here I was, sipping virgin pina coladas, walking the beach, swimming a little and even beating my husband at ping pong. I truly couldn't believe how much I was enjoying my pregnancy. I owed it all to the fact that I was able to toss out all the old-school advice I was getting, telling me to stay off my feet, eat like a horse, etc.. Instead I found a program that made sense to me. Taking better care of me meant taking better care of my babies as well. The final results--I delivered two healthy babies just two weeks short of full term. I was able to deliver them naturally, avoiding the recoup time of a C-section, and I was back on my feet and back in shape faster than I ever would have believed possible.

I recently became a first-time mom at the age of 39. I was experiencing a lot of anxiety worrying about my age and the fact that I was having twins. I received all kinds of conflicting advice as to what I should and shouldn't do while pregnant. I finally decided to research for myself. With my doctors consent I followed a program of diet and exercise. Once I started, my anxiety went away, and I had a very comfortable, active and problem free pregnancy. I delivered two very healthy boys, and within just 7 weeks of delivery I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight and even better shape. I've posted my story along with pictures at Pregnant-Healthy.com [http://www.pregnant-healthy.com].

Baby Care

Written By Unknown on Monday, September 21, 2015 | 12:23 AM

Baby care like most other things in life can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be. First time mothers are naturally more anxious compared to women who have had babies before. They have a thousand questions and worries, not to mention insecurities about being able to look after their babies. The situation is even tougher for single parents who do not have any family support.

Fortunately help is close at hand in the form of various books and baby sites that answer a woman's every question on how to take care of her child.

It is important to remember that each child is unique. Therefore it is best not to compare your offspring with those of the neighbors or anybody else's in the family. Milestone guidelines for the baby's development are just that - guidelines. Different babies learn to crawl, walk, and talk at different ages. Some may be friendly while others may be shy. Some may be better at certain games and not interested in others. One of the first rules of baby care is that it is unfair to judge or push your child in any way.

Small children require a different sensitivity not to mention a completely different set of products for their daily toilet. Baby skin is very sensitive and prone to rash. There are many reputed companies who have a special line of products dedicated to infant care. It is possible that some may work better for your children so do not hesitate to experiment. But once something works, it's best to stay with it.

As a rule of thumb, less is more where a small child is concerned.

It has been proven that mother's milk is the best form of baby care that a new mom can give her child. Unless it is not possible for any reason, a child should be on an exclusive breast milk diet for at least the first six months. Working mothers can choose to store breast milk to feed their children while they are away. Refrigerated or frozen breast milk can last up to four weeks under the right conditions.

There is in fact research that shows that women who breast feed their children bond better and also lose weight faster. For the child, the breast milk translates to higher IQ and immunity against a host of diseases.

Baby care is not an exact science so trust your instincts when in doubt. It also helps to have a good pediatrician that you can call without any hesitation. All mothers or caregivers should learn basic first aid and other safety procedures as children are prone to accidents. Sites dedicated to new moms talk about many other useful facts and tips that help out in rearing a child. Those interested can choose to subscribe to a newsletter. They can also post questions and get answers for their queries.

In summary, it is good to have all the help that you can get, be it of a grandparent, nanny, spouse, book, or website. This is one area of life where you will be learning constantly.

Persistent Crying - Baby Care

Written By Unknown on Thursday, September 17, 2015 | 11:58 PM

Some young babies have prolonged bouts of crying, which typically occur in the late afternoon and evening, and can last any where between two and four hours. Babies often begin this pattern of persistent crying at about three weeks of age, and will usually have grown out of it by about three months. This pattern of crying has become known as colic, because as the baby becomes increasingly upset and difficult to soothe, he may often pull his legs up and arch his back as if experiencing abdominal pain. In fact, it's probably misleading to give it any special name, because there doesn't seem to be any known cause for this pattern.

Getting Through It

A baby who is persistently fretful may cry readily at other times, not just in the evening. However, the evening pattern of crying can be a particular strain for parents, especially if one or both of you has been working during the day. It may be that your baby senses and resets to your tiredness at this time. Although this crying pattern may only last three months, this period can seem never ending to new parents who have to deal with their baby's distress day after day. Trying some of the suggestions for soothing your baby given below and should help you through this difficult time.

Accepting Help From Others

Some times a crying baby can make parents who are already tired from broken nights feel quite desperate this is the time to speck help. Don't ever feel that you are failing as parents if you accept assistance, countless other parents will have felt as frustrated and exhausted as you because their babies have cried a lot and have been difficult to soothe. Jump at the chance if your baby's grandparents or other friends or relations offer to care for your baby for a while so you can get out on your own for a couple of hours or enjoy some unbroken sleep. If they don't offer any help, don't be afraid to ask them. There's no need to feel guilty they will be glad to have the chance to relieve you, and it will help you to get things back into perspective. It's a great help, too, to talk to healthcare or baby care professionals, who are there to support you.

Comforting Your Older Baby

As your baby grows and becomes more aware of her surroundings, her pattern of crying will change because it's not the only way she can communicate with you now. Her reasons for crying will also be easier for you to both predict and interpret. You'll begin to distinguish between frustration, hunger, pain, or loneliness. Even when your baby is beginning to become more mobile and independent, the best way to comfort her if she's unhappy is with your company, hugs, and cuddles.

Security Blankets

Toward their first birthday, many babies will have become attached to a particular comfort item a favorite soft toy, cloth, or blanket that probably helps them sleep and that may be grabbed when they're feeling a bit insecure and upset. Other babies become attached to a pacifier or suck their thumbs. This is perfectly normal, and there's no point in distressing your baby by removing the item on the grounds that it is a bad habit, it isn't. As your baby's confidence and independence develop after her first birthday, she'll gradually become less dependent on her security object, although it may take a year or so. It's a good idea to have some spares in case the main one needs washing.

Teething And Crying

Your baby's teeth will normally start to come through from about six months, so she'll dribble a lot and her gums will occasionally be sore. Your baby may become rather grumbly when she's teething, and it's usually quite obvious if she's uncomfortable, she'll want to chew a lot and may have a hot, red area on her check. However, it isn't a good idea always to blame persistent crying on teething, when in fact your baby may be bored, or even ill.

Troubleshooting

There are lots of reasons why an older baby may cry.

She's bored

Your baby may cry from boredom if left alone, unable to hear your voice and with nothing to look at or play with. You are her favorite playmate, so keep her where she can see you and you can talk to her, and don't leave her for long periods alone in her crib if she's crying. Some babies do play happily in their cribs for a while after waking, so leave toys and books with in reach.

She's frustrated

As your baby grows, her desire to do things outstrips her ability to do them, and so she gets frustrated and often starts to cry as a result. She may also cry if you don't let her have something she wants. Change her toys frequently-her attention span is still short. Find time to play with her.

She's afraid

At about six months your baby will cry when she's separated from you, and she'll be nervous of other people, even when she knows them well. Right from the start, get her used to seeing you leave the room and come back in again. This way she'll gradually learn that she can trust you always to return to her. Make sure she meets lots of other people before she reaches this stage and learns that even if you leave her with some one else for a while, you always come back.

She's sick or has hurt herself

If your baby hurts herself, you'll know at once from her cry, but it may be more difficult to tell when she's sick, for what you should do if your baby is ill or has an accident.

Nothing Tops Bamboo Cotton Bath Towels in Baby Care

There is no question about it, bamboo cotton bath towels are the best there is on towels when it comes to baby care. Babies, especially newborns are very delicate creatures. Caring for them entails a constant conscience that is nagging about safety, comfort and cleanliness. When it comes to cotton nowadays, those that are made out of bamboo are considered to be most hypo-allergenic.

Common Cotton Types

For a long period of time nothing has topped Egyptian cotton for being the best cotton material. It has the softest and most luxurious feel. The term has become so big in cotton softness that its trademark logo is enough for a cotton material to sell. In reality it still is the softest, having a much higher thread count when compared to other fabrics. But the dawn of bamboo cotton has given a different meaning to baby care. It is not really cotton; it is bamboo which has been manufactured to reach a softness that is comparable to cotton plus, it has a good ability in preventing allergic reactions.

The two fabrics are equally absorbent. One may wonder since both types of fabric came from plants (cotton and bamboo) so they are supposed to be equally hypoallergenic as well. But bamboo is a special kind of plant. It has the natural ability to block bacteria from building up on the fiber. This is actually the material of choice for those who suffer from asthma and other lung related problems.

There may be minimal cases about allergy associated with Egyptian cotton sheets however studies have shown that nothing yet has matched bamboo's innate hypoallergenic qualities.

The only downside in using bamboo over Egyptian cotton is that the latter is more long-lasting. Ostensibly, the reason being is that it has higher thread count. The thread count in cloth materials accounts not just for their softness but also for durability.
Additional Care
In spite of bamboo cotton's natural hypoallergenic qualities, the fact that chemicals on fabric detergents and softeners affect the safeness of clothes on babies should never be discounted. For ultimate baby care, only mild detergents should be used. It is best to stay away from softeners, as much as possible. To keep the towels' fluffiness refrain from using hot water, this can result for towels to be somewhat crusty. A lot of moms have also found that top loader washing machines are best for washing towels. Oftentimes it gives a fluffier result than front loaders. But if a front loader is all you have, then you really have to use a fabric softener but be sure to be careful in choosing the brand.

Egyptian cotton bath towels may be more durable, making it more cost-effective as compared to bamboo cotton bath towels. But when it comes to babies, every parent will agree that providing the best and safest things for them is priceless.

Weaning Baby Is Easy With Baby Food Containers

Written By Unknown on Thursday, September 10, 2015 | 1:06 AM

When raising a child you face many difficulties; deciding when to wean your baby should not be one of them. With the help of this article, you will know when your baby should stop exclusively taking milk or formula, and what to feed while weaning.

Just as people are not all the same, babies aren't either. Some babies are ready to begin weaning quite early while others may wait much longer to adapt to solid foods. When to wean often depends on the baby's maturity and ability to eat baby foods. The recommended age to introduce your baby to solid foods is at six months. Although babies may begin the weaning process at six months, it is advisable for mothers to continue breast or formula feeding baby milk until the child is at least one year old.

Some times it can be a challenge knowing exactly what to feed your child when you start weaning a baby from baby milk. The processed, canned baby food that is sold in stores can be expensive and not always nutritious. One of the best ways to save money and provide your baby with healthy food is to make your own baby food at home.

While making your own baby food at home may sound challenging, it really isn't at all.

The first step is to purchase some baby food containers. You will need to find containers that will be easy to clean while also holding the right amount of food and be a good size to store in your freezer.

After purchasing a baby food container, you need to make something to put in it! You can choose to make food just for baby or simply use leftovers from dinner. The best foods to use are easily mashed vegetables such as carrots or beans.

When your future food for baby is cooked until soft, you should mash it with the help of a blender.

After being mashed, the food can be put directly into a baby food container and frozen until the next meal. Making your own baby food is that simple!

When to wean is often determined by your baby's interest in food. By providing your child with food made at home, you have the ability to taste it for yourself before it is frozen, allowing you to decide if it is something that is edible. Whereas store bought baby foods often taste bland, baby foods made at home will have a far superior flavour.

How hard is it to start weaning a baby? While the difficulty of switching your baby to solid foods is different for different people, it is not usually a terrible process. While babies should still be given some baby milk, they will start enjoying food shortly after it is introduced to them.

If weaning a baby is a harder process than you had imagined, do not give up heart; your child may just not be developed enough yet. Continue to present your baby with soft foods every day until they finally become interested.

Stephen Heather, new father of Charlie David who is now 5 months old and starting to enjoy food for the first time.

Helpful Tips on How to Clean Baby Bottles

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 | 1:40 AM

Nurturing your child can be done in so many possible ways. Keep your babies from harm and protect them from any other health hazards through baby bottle cleaning. It doesn't really matter whether you choose a machine to wash baby bottles or you decide to clean them by hand. What matters is you have the basic supplies to do the cleaning. Prepare the basics like hot water, soap and a good brush for bottles and nipples. It has always been advisable to wash baby bottles right after use to prevent caking of milk on the bottle and creating a foul smell which is difficult to get rid of. This is especially so if you are using plastic baby bottles. With glass nursing bottles, stinky smell of spoiled milk can be easily removed.

Never let dirty bottles sleep overnight. Start off cleaning by pouring out leftover milk and rinsing the bottle with warm water. It will be easier to clear out bottles with warm water instead of tap water. If you will be using dishwashers, the first two procedures will also be recommended. For those mothers who want to do baby bottle cleaning by hand, still rinse the dirty bottle with warm water and follow instructions above. Next, you need to fill a large basin with warm water and soap where the bottles and nipples could be placed. This will speed up the cleaning process as you soak other bottles while cleaning one after the other. Brush the bottles in and out using a baby bottle brush that is not too hard to scrape off the plastic. Bottles and nipples wear and tear due to hard baby bottles brush. Move the brush along the edges to remove filmy milk residue. This will also get rid of bacteria that thrive inside unwashed bottles. After the brushing process, you may need to rinse off the soap and dry the bottles in a bottle rack.

Bottle sterilization is recommended to babies who are affected with immune disorders. Although there are communities with reliably clean water supply especially those using sanitized water system, pediatricians still recommend bottle sterilization for babies until after two months old. The sterilization process is very simple though. Just fill out a pot of water, put the bottles, nipples and other feeding accessories then bring to boil for five minutes. Exceeding this required time can distort the shape of the feeding supplies especially when they are made out of low quality materials and plastic. After the boiling, remove the items. Bottle sterilization ends in towel drying or air-drying the items.

Sanitation for baby feeding accessories is a surefire way to prevent bacteria from causing your baby health hazards. The bottle cleaning method seems to be stressful but prevention will always be better than cure. Securing cleanliness with things you use for nursing your child is securing health and saving money. Let baby bottle cleaning and bottle sterilization be a systematic practice of every nursing mother in ensuring proper hygiene for their babies.

The Essentials of Baby Care

Written By Unknown on Saturday, September 5, 2015 | 12:31 AM

Motherhood is a gift that is bestowed on by nature. Some are natural mothers while others need to put extra effort and work on their baby care skills. But irrespective of whether you are a natural or not, you will face baby care problems at some point in time and it is only either your experience or other mothers' experiences that might get you through. The bottom line or the main aim is to do the right thing for your baby as much as possible. Your baby is like a blank slate in the beginning. Gradually, he/she forms his/her own personality based on the way you bring him/her up.

Summer Baby or Winter Baby?

It is very important to handle your baby according to the time of the year he/she is born. For instance winter babies require more careful handling as well as warm clothes. On the other hand, summer babies require lesser clothing and good room ventilation. During winters it is best to have a humidifier in your baby's room to prevent dryness and dehydration from setting in.

Touch, comfort and safety

Your baby has a heightened sense of touch since his/her other senses are not so developed. So it is very important to hold your baby close to you (more specifically close to your heart), since all the nine months in your womb your baby has constantly been listening to your heart beat. So hearing your heart beat again outside will only comfort your baby. Bring about an overall sense of security by choosing the right dresses, swaddle blankets and other accessories for your dear baby.

Hygiene matters

Your baby's umbilical cord dries up and falls off within a week of birth. It is highly essential to apply an antiseptic lotion right after your baby's bath for about 2-3 weeks. While bathing your baby, always hold the baby in an upward slant with the baby's head held high. After that, hold the baby under the armpits and wipe baby's back. Do not keep your baby's diaper on for more than 8 hours.

Feeding and burping in the right position

They usually need to be fed every 2-3 hours. Your child will always give you the signs as to what it needs. If you are bottle feeding your baby, the make sure you hold your baby's head neck and head in an upward slant. Be careful of not choking your baby and make sure no liquid gets to your child's lungs.

They are a joy to watch and hold. The intense love and affection that a mother has for her baby cannot be equaled to any other and thus must be channeled to take good care of her child.
